Jim Corbett National Park - The Diva

We waited with bated breath for a glimpse of the family.
Not a single leaf stirred in the bushes where they were resting; not a sound broke the silence except the not a sound except the wind rustling the dry leaves.
It was amazing — a mom and her three adolescent cubs (two males and one female) lay hidden from view in the thicket, and yet the entire forest seemed frozen in stillness. We might have left, but someone had seen them slip into the bushes earlier. There was no other way out for them without being seen — also the musky scent of tigers lingered in the air.
Then, the young female cub decided she had had enough of hiding, if she was destined to rule this land, she is going to show us who the boss. 😊 Without bothering to spare us a glance, she stepped onto the slanted tree trunk and began her walk, full of confidence, grace, and barely contained contempt for the cars, their occupants, and the relentless clicking of cameras going wild.
She climbed to the top, surveyed the land that would one day be hers, paused for a moment, and then descended with the same effortless poise.
For her, we did not exist.
