The Warrior of Phyang - Ladakh
The warrior of Phyamg . This battle hardened male snow leopard had killed a large Himalayn Ibex. It would take about 2-3 days for a snow leopard to consume all the meat. Naturally, he was guarding the kill and not even letting the Magpies come near it. Fortuantely for us, we got ample time to observe and photograph him. Photographing snow leopards in Ladakh is quite difficult. In most cases they are tracked using powerful spotting scopes.
Although found across a fairly wide area of Central Asia, snow leopards are among the most difficult wildlife to see in the wild. Estimates of their worldwide population is only about 7,000.
